2022 Pu'er Shengpu, Wild Forest Stone-pressed cake

This cake fully encloses the wild variety of Yunnan flora, and pays homage to the care of the manual harvest by the Hani minorities that have traditionally inhabited the land, and cherished the ancient manufacturing of this tea category.

Young buds furnished with a fine downy fur, still dormant in a rigid and compact bed of full, fleshy leaves and mature stems, are the beautiful sight that opens to the view when looking at this cake for the first time.
When opening the natural paper that gently wraps the leaves, like tight petals, the most intense fragrance blooms in the air, releasing notes of ripe apricots, softwood, yunnan mushrooms, and tropical forest undergrowth. This beautiful tea cake, so similar to the image of a blooming rose, despite its young age has no astringency, which usually hits the palate like unseen thorns, and makes one more careful to taste it, waiting for the tea to age and soften with time. The surprising mellowness and body of this tea, given by a relatively rainy harvesting season, makes it perfect both to be drunk immediately, and to be aged, wondering about the unusual developments it might release with time.

The golden liquor, with its oily texture, has a great presence in the palate. It carries the full flower scent that identifies our side of Nannuo mountain, yet it seems to differ from any other previous harvest in being altogether more mature, rounder, and thicker.
It is a perfect synopsis of its growth environment, from which it preserves the wild under forest hues of wood, bamboo leaves, and sweet tropical fruits. It flowers freely and abundantly in the teapot, releasing the full power of Yunnan forests.

Our tea production

This tea comes from the tea forest we own in Yunnan, in Nannuo and Lunan/Pasha mountain.
We take care of each leg of the production: from the care of the under-forest until package and distribution.

Generations of masters

Our production is entirely supervised by Yan Kunli, that was born and raised on Nannuo mountain, and in 2007 won the Pu'er Shengpu producer competition for the highest Shaqing skills, among all the Hani minority in Yunnan. He is the master in his craft, and we are proud to have him with us.
