This tea cake knife is the best tool to help you break your pressed tea cakes. Its rounded tip is pointed enough to pry open the cake, but not as sharp as to hurt you in the process.
When opening a tea cake, the tip of the knife should enter the outer edge of the cake. After inserting the knife, press gently downwards and repeat this action counterclockwise - or clockwise, if you are left-handed - in order to break the cake evenly.
