2023 Mahei Shengpu 麻黑 - Yiwu Terroir, Autumn
This special autumn harvest has been one of the most appreciated and requested teas from the third chapter of our Eastern Tea Club, and it is now available in an exclusive 200 g pressed format.
Máhēi 麻黑 belongs to the Yiwu tea area, located in Mengla County. It was one of the six ancient tea areas, and it is rich in centuries-old tea trees, as one of the most charming parts of Yiwu tea, a rare gem in terms of quality.
A small yet highly populated village, Mahei has the largest tea planting area and more output than any other areas in Yiwu, making this village one of the most important to identify the multiple aspects of Yiwu tea flavor.
The autumn harvest gives this tea an intense fragrance, and its leaves are full of precious buds, which add a refreshing note. Its liquor is light and soft, and releases a gentle sweetness reminiscent of nectar and wild flowers, that lasts for a long time in the cup.
A mountainous area which has been greatly esteemed for its distinctive gentle flavor, and eminently used as a tribute tea to the emperors who have desired its precious leaves, Yiwu has gained through the centuries the title of Queen of Shengpu. Many tea enthusiasts have written and talked about it, and numerous traders have claimed to own the original flavor of Yiwu. The different sides of this area all have their own unique flavor, and contibute to constantly recreate the idea of authenticity.
