The fourth chapter of our Tea Club unfolds as a journey through time and mist, tracing the legendary birth of the progenitor of all red tea. Our voyage begins in the silent, fog-shrouded heights of the Wuyishan hills, where a series of unexpected events transformed the crispness of spring green leaves into a deeper, more complex tea. This is the origin of Hong Cha: a category defined not merely by its hue, but by the profound synergy of heat and time.

Within this chapter, we have gathered eight red teas that represent a study of diversity and history. You will encounter the robust, chocolatey depths of wild-grown leaves, the malted sweetness of high-altitude gardens, and the floral elegance born of refined coastal craftsmanship. Though they differ in cultivar and production, they are bound by a singular, enduring warmth that lingers long after the final cup.

    • Bailin Gongfu 白琳工夫, from Fuding
    •  Tan Yang Gongfu 坦洋工夫, from Fuan
    • Zhenghe Gongfu 政和工夫, from Zhenghe

    From Guangdong province 广东: 

      • Yingde Red Tea 英德红茶, from Yingde

    From Yunnan province 云南: 

      • Nannuo Dianhong 南糯滇红, from Xishuangbanna
      • Changning Dianhong 昌宁红茶, from Baoshan
      • Herbal Red Tea 花草红茶, with jujubes, mulberries, goji berries, chrysanthemum and longan, from Xishuangbanna

    Together with these 8 samples, you'll receive also three sticks of our natural incense Evolve 佳境, where a bouquet of balsamic fragrances dance, beginning with simplicity and blooming into complexity.

    As you receive your tea samples, you will find a welcome letter with links to extensive content on the ancient and modern history of the area, geography and culture. You will then have access to a reserved Community chat area where we continue to upload new contents, and you can share your own tasting notes, observations, and travel stories.

    Webinar

    You will also have access to the live online webinar. If you join this chapter after the webinar, the video recording will be available in the community chat, along with slides, materials and discussion with your fellow club members.
    We invite you to start tasting the samples as soon as you receive them, but we suggest to keep few grams to taste again and comment together during the online meeting.

    Online webinar

    On Sunday May 3rd 9am CEST, we'll meet for a live online webinar of the duration of one hour. After that date the video recording of the webinar will be available for streaming in our community upon the purchase of this chapter. During the webinar we taste some of the samples together and tell you more about each village, sharing experiences and tasting notes.
